Boxes in lined cardboard

Stiff boxes are used for durable packaging, especially to hold deluxe products or particular sectors, such as footwear. These boxes are not very suitable for automatic packaging as they have slower production times. However, they ensure effective protection for delicate or fragile products and help to highlight the value of articles.

Recommended grammage from 500 gsm to 700 gsm

Lining

Lining papers must have grammages between 100 and 160 grams, ensure high tearing strength, good opacity (to prevent see-through of the underlying material) and the capacity to absorb the bonding agent without allowing the glue to pass through. If a coated paper is used, it is advisable that it only be coated on one side (single-side coated). One of the most suitable papers for lining boxes is Imitlin.

Printing and specialty printing

Offset printing is one of the most common techniques used to achieve optimum quality for images and text. The name of the product is often highlighted with printing techniques such as embossed printing and hot foil stamping. The latter is generally used to obtain very realistic metallic colours that are very difficult to achieve with other printing techniques. If the board or paper chosen for a package has dark or bright colours, screen printing allows the application of covering inks that can be highlighted against the background.

Finishes

Since products on display for sales are handled by the public, especially in largescale distribution, it is useful to protect the surface of the packaging with plastic lamination or varnishes. Such treatments are effective for providing protection for pouches, shopping bags and wrapping papers as well and for making them longer-lasting.
